My Mentorship Elevates Voices
My mentorship journey has been deeply rooted in entrepreneurship as a tool for advocacy and economic empowerment. Over the years, I have intentionally mentored more than ten Black women to consider entrepreneurship as a pathway to increase the quality of life for their families. Many entered mentorship unsure of their potential, yet left with clarity, confidence, and strategy. Today, several are thriving real estate professionals, while others have successfully launched businesses of their own. Watching these women build sustainable income, create autonomy, and shift generational outcomes has reaffirmed my belief that mentorship is not guidance alone. It is access, advocacy, and activation.
For Black women and girls, entrepreneurship is often the bridge between survival and stability. Through mentorship, I advocate by demystifying systems, sharing lived experience, and helping women recognize their value beyond traditional limitations. This aligns directly with the mission of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Washington, D.C. Metro Area, whose mentoring initiatives focus on leadership development, economic empowerment, and improving the quality of life for Black women and girls. By mentoring with intention, we do more than inspire. We equip future leaders with the tools to transform their families and communities.
I encourage each of us to support and participate in mentorship opportunities that elevate voices and expand possibilities. Whether through mentoring, advocacy, or support of NCBWDC’s mentoring initiatives, we all have a role in ensuring Black women and girls are empowered to thrive. Look for ways to serve as a mentor today and support NCBWDC’s mission to build a stronger, more equitable future.
